SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – (DRG News) A travel organization says South Dakota’s statewide average gas price this week is higher than prices that were logged a week ago, a month ago and a year ago. AAA South Dakota said that the average price logged on Tuesday was $3.70 a gallon. That cost is five cents higher than a week ago, four cents higher than a month ago and twelve cents higher than a year ago. The national average gas prices for regular unleaded gasoline is also higher when compared to week ago, month ago and July 2012 levels. AAA South Dakota says Midwestern motorists have faced volatile gas prices in recent months. Prices were at their highest this year in May and early June and fell at the end of last month as refineries resumed production. Gas prices are going higher again this month amid new refinery issues, continued tight supplies and oil prices that are at their highest level in more than a year.
