PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion Baseball team ended their regular season on a two game winning streak. After breaking a 7 game losing streak with a 16-12 win over Sturgis on Friday night, Post 8 wrapped up the regular season with an 11-1 win over Sturgis in a game called after 7 innings Sunday at Hyde Stadium. Unlike Friday, when Pierre had to scored 8 runs in the final two innings, Post 8 put Sunday’s game out of reach 4 runs in the 6th and 4 more in the 7th to record their 17th victory of the season against 23 setbacks. Ryan Goodwin had 3 hits and scored 3 times and Cash Anderson had a hit and two RBI’s and scored two runs. On the pitching mound, Willie Welch started and went the first 4 innings allowing just 1 hit in picking up the win. Alec Norwick and Carson Eisenbiesz also pitched with Norwick allowing just 1 hit in two innings of work. Eisenbeisz pitched the 7th inning allowing Stugis’s only run on 2 hits. Pierre had 9 hits and were aided by 9 Sturgis errors in the game. Pierre now awaits to see who they will play Wednesday in the first round of the Region 3A tournament. Post 8 will be the third seed and will play either Rapid City Post 320 or Spearfish. Those two teams will finish a suspended game from earlier this season Tonight. The winner will be the top seed in the tournament and the loser of the game will be the second seed and face Pierre in the first round. Sturgis is the 4th seed and will play the winner in the tournaments first game.
