SDSU Womens Basketball Earns Another Academic Award

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota State University women’s basketball team appeared in the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the eighth consecutive season, placing 13th among NCAA Division I programs, officials from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced Thursday.  The Jackrabbits, coached by Aaron Johnston, compiled a 3.492 team grade-point average during the 2012-13 academic year. Although SDSU fell out of the top three in the Division I rankings for the first time since moving to the D-I ranks, the Jackrabbits were one of only two programs to appear in the WBCA Academic Top 25 and play in the NCAA Tournament. DePaul (Ill.), which tied for second with a 3.625 team GPA, was the other program to accomplish both feats.  Utah Valley State led D-I squads with a 3.639 team GPA.
