PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The deadline is coming up soon for those who want to propose a work project for the Capital Area United Way’s “Day of Caring”. This year’s “Day of Caring” will be August 17. July 26 is the final day that organizers will take ideas for work projects that benefit individuals or groups in Hughes and Stanley Counties. Capital Area United Way’s Executive Director Gloria Hanson says the types of projects that citizens could propose can vary from helping a neighbor in need with home projects to something on a larger scale.
Hanson says Day of Caring is held in conjunction with the official kick off of the organization’s annual campaign.
The deadline for teams or volunteers to sign up to take part in Day of Caring will be August 2. Forms for nominating projects, a team signup sheet and volunteer release forms are available on the Capital Area United Way’s website at www.capareaunitedway.org. All volunteers will meet early on August 17 for morning snacks before going on to their project locations. Those that volunteer will receive a Day of Caring t-shirt. For more information on the United Way or Day of Caring, call Capital Area United Way’s offices at 224-9229.
