FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Voters in Fort Pierre are headed to vote today, as the future of a proposed riverfront development is being considered by city residents. Fort Pierre voters are weighing in on the city council’s decision to add boats to rules that allow vehicle sales, service or storage. Polls are open until 8:00 p.m. Central/7:00 p.m. Mountain time at the Community Youth Involved Center.
The $16 million dollar Riverwalk Landing project is being brought to Fort Pierre by developers Mark and Glennis Zarecky. It would include a marina, restaurant, convention center and retail and office space and would be built on the Teton Island Development near the Missouri River Bridge.
Fort Pierre City Finance Officer Roxanne Heezen says Fort Pierre has 1,598 registered voters.
