Highway Patrol Says Pierre Man Killed in Vehicle-Pedestrian Fatal Crash Near Pickstown Monday

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Pierre man was among two people who were killed in a pedestrian-vehicle crash in Charles Mix County yesterday.  The Department of Public Safety says the incident was reported last night about 8:45 p.m. near U.S. Highway 18 and SD Highway 46 near Pickstown.  Authorities say that 28-year-old Ronald Ray Fischer, Jr. of Lake Andes was driving a minivan on Highway 18, when the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 46.  The van traveled into a nearby private parking lot where it hit two pedestrians and two parked vehicles.  The pedestrians; 46-year-old Robert Allan Klumb of Pierre and 25-year-old Maegen E. Spindler of Cazenovia, New York were killed in the crash.  Fischer was taken to a hospital in Wagner and authorities say he has since been transported to a Sioux Falls hospital.  The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.

    rob rented from my mom when he was going to uwsp he became like an uncle to me and my brother.. and a very good friend to my mom and mike for over 20 years.. he always stayed and moms a few nights between going to milltown and upnorth. we are very shocked still didn’t fully sink in cant believe it… hes going to be missed very deeply
