PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Rattlers amatuer baseball team split a doubleheader with Redfield Dairy Queen on Saturday in Pierre. The Rattlers won the opener 5-3 but were beaten in the nightcap by Redfield 6-3. In the opener, Harry Decker improved his record to 4-1 on the season as he went the distance allowing 8 hits and striking out 3. Ryan Yackley tripled and Jared Nielan had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s to lead Pierre’s 8 hit attack. In the nightcap, Allen Goodman started and pitched 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and struck out 4 but Redfield scored 3 times in the top of the 7th off of losing pitcher Bob Bennett. Brian Graves and John Breckenridge each had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s to lead the Rattlers who had 8 hits in the nightcap as well. The Rattlers record is now 13-3 with all 3 of their losses coming to the hands of Redfield. Next up for the Rattlers will be Miller at Hyde Stadium on Tuesday night in a 8 pm contest. Pierre will travel to Custer on Saturday and then play at Rapid City on Sunday.
