PIERRE, S.D. – Pierre’s Oahe Futbol Club U12 girls were crowned champions during the last two soccer tournaments they participated in. The 2013 Dakota Cup Tournament was held on June 21-23 in Aberdeen. Pierre went undefeated, playing teams from Aberdeen, Fargo, and Minot. They met HCSC Arsenal from Aberdeen in the championship game, coming out on top with a score of 3-0. The team then participated in the Tri-City Tournament in Fargo on June 28-30. Pierre again went undefeated, playing teams from Fargo, Sioux Falls, and Canada. The team met up again with Sioux Falls during the championship game. The game was tied 0-0 at half and Sioux Falls was the first to score when the teams went back on the field. Janaina Zanin then responded by scoring a goal for Pierre. Emily Mikkelsen scored the winning goal in the final minute of regulation time for the 2-1 victory.
