RAPID CITY, S.D. – (DRG News) The South Dakota National Guard has released the list of speakers who will be present in about a week for a deployment ceremony for the Guard’s 152nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion-based in Pierre. The ceremony for the unit’s 70 soldiers will be Saturday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. at T.F. Riggs High School. Speakers will include Governor Dennis Daugaard, Pierre Mayor Laurie Gill, and Major General Timothy Reisch-the Adjutant General of the South Dakota National Guard. The 152nd is scheduled for a nine-month tour to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The 152nd’s members provide combat support to other forces; in areas like supply, transportation, maintenance and ordnance support. After next week’s ceremony, the 152nd will report to Fort Hood, Texas for training before they go overseas. This will be the battalion’s first deployment.
