First Go Round Leaders at State High School Finals Rodeo

BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – Event winners in the first go round of the South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo Friday in Belle Fourche were led by two sisters from Spearfish. Taylor Engesser had the top time in the barrel racing at 17.397 seconds, while her sister Rickie leads the way in goat tying in 7.92. Other first round go leaders included Shane O’Connell of Rapid City in the bareback riding (61 points); Vanzi Knippling of Chamberlain in the breakaway roping (2.790); Sierra Price of Mud Butte in the pole bending (20.530); Treg Schaack of Edgemont in the tiedown roping (10.370); Dayton Spiel of Parade, in the bull riding (70); Jace Christiansen of Kadoka, in the steer wrestling (5.920); Kash Deal of Kadoka, in the saddle bronc riding (71) and Tyler Gaer of Newell and Carson Musick of Pierre in the team roping (7.250). The second go round of the rodeo is this moring at 10 am central time with the third and final go round set for 5 pm this afternoon.
