Pierre PD Says Accident Causes Damage to Two Vehicles-One Person Taken to Hospital for Minor Injuries

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A two vehicle accident in Pierre Thursday left injuries to at least one of the motorists and a total of $10,000 damage to both vehicles.    Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster says emergency responders were told of the accident yesterday about 12:35 p.m. at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Irwin Street.  Blemaster says a 2008 Jeep was northbound on the Truck Route when it collided with a westbound 2003 Chevrolet Impala.  41-year-old Lance Jibben of Pierre was the driver of the Impala and he was transported to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries.  Jibben was also cited for Failure to Yield.  The driver of the Jeep was a 71-year-old Pierre man.  Each of the vehicles sustained about $5,000 damage and both had to be towed from the scene.
