PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Thursday brought what is becoming an annual event for Eagle Creek Software Services in Pierre…a public open house.  The event was set up to recognize the contributions of customers, the state and the City of Pierre in the company’s success.  Tours of the Eagle Creek building were offered, food and beverages were offered for attendees and the evening also included entertainment.  Eagle Creek CEO Ken Behrendt says the open house is set up for several reasons.

Eagle Creek provides web and app development, along with technical support to large companies.  Behrendt says business at the Pierre software location has been good.  He says one example of a project that originates from here is a toll booth mobile app that was developed for transit use in Utah.

Behrendt rates how things are going in the Pierre facility at an 8 1/2 out of ten and says business continues to improve.

More housing options for Eagle Creek employees are slowly beginning to become available in the Pierre area as developments start popping up and Behrendt says he’s been assured by city officials that more are coming in the future.

Earlier this year, Eagle Creek announced that over 1,000 information technology jobs will be coming to the state.  The company said it will build a new project center in Vermillion and partner with the University of South Dakota to help train potential employees.  Behrendt says he expects the southeast SD project will help keep current state residents from leaving South Dakota.

Besides Pierre, Eagle Creek also has a location in Valley City,North Dakota and its headquarters is based in Minnesota.  The company follows the “Dakota model” in which it utilizes project centers in the U.S. instead of providing IT support from locations overseas.
