PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre-Fort Pierre Exchange Club is displaying flags across the Missouri River Bridge today in honor of Flag Day.  The Exchange Club started the project in 2006 as part of that year’s Vietnam War Memorial event.  Since then, club members post alternating U.S. and South Dakota flags on the bridge on various holidays and for other special occasions.  Today’s display in honor of Flag Day is sponsored by AGE Corporation of Fort Pierre.

Local residents will also note flags posted at various locations throughout the Pierre area.  The Exchange Club partners with local Boy Scouts to put up flags at businesses that sponsor the patriotic display.  The partnership has been in place since the early 1980’s.
