Power Outage Leaves Some Utility Customers Without Electricity for a Time on Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) About 600 utility customers in Pierre were impacted by a power outage yesterday morning.  Utilities Director Brad Palmer says the outage was first reported around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday.  He says the power was out from the Ash Substation to southeast Pierre and from Madison Avenue to Hayes Avenue.  Power was restored in the impacted area by about 11:00 a.m. yesterday morning and Palmer says the outage was caused by a short in an underground line near Jefferson and Park Avenues.
