2 Riggs High Coaching Positions Filled

PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre School Board filled 2 of three vacant varsity head
coaching positions for next season at their regularly scheduled school board
meeting held Monday night in Pierre.  Shawn Lewis is the new head wrestling
coach for the two time defending state champion Governor wrestling program.
Lewis has been the assistant coach of the Governor wrestlers for the past
two years and previously coached wrestling at Aberdeen Central High School.
Lewis replaces Ryan Noyes who stepped down from the position earlier this
spring.  And Gregg Starr will be the new head track and field coach for the
Governor and Lady Governor track squads.  Starr has been an assistant coach
for the track program in Pierre for several years.  Starr will replace Misty
Larson who resigned the position after 5 years as she will be moving to
Chester along with her family.  Still to be named, a head gymnastics coach
for the Lady Govs.  Among coaches hired to fill positions, Chad Uhrig will return as asisstant coach for wrestling and Scott Hesla was named as 8th grade football coach.
