PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with Watertown last night at Hyde Stadium. Watertown won the opener 7-3 but Pierre bounced back in the nightcap to rally for a 11-10 victory. In the opener, Pierre had 4 errors and 5 hits. Gage Curtis had a 3 run double to highlight Pierre’s offense. Willie Welch started and took the loss, his first of the season. In the nightcap, Bo Atkins ripped a bases loaded double in the 6th inning to give Pierre a 11-8 lead and Post 8 held on for the 11-10 win. Alex Gray worked the 7th inning and allowed 2 runs but picked up his second win of the season. Post 8 is 3 and 4 on the season as they head into their annual Koester tournament this weekend.
