PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A woman will be sentenced next month for her guilty plea to Grand Theft. 29-year-old Taylor Gullickson, whose address is listed as Mobridge, was indicted in January for an incident that occurred in December, in which law enforcers were alerted to the theft of various items from some Pierre stores. Gullickson was charged with Grand Theft for taking more than $1,000 in items from Walmart, including a flat screen TV. She also faced other charges including Possession of Stolen Property-More than $400. In exchange for entering a guilty plea to the Grand Theft count on Tuesday, other charges were dismissed. Grand Theft carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison, a $20,000 fine or both. Hughes County States Attorney Wendy Kloeppner says she will be sentenced for the crime July 16.
Law enforcers responded to a report December 10 that Walmart theft prevention employees viewed a shopping cart full of items being taken from the store and loaded into a vehicle-and the items had not been paid for. The vehicle Gullickson was in was stopped by a Highway Patrol trooper near Gettysburg and she was detained and later arrested.
