UNDATED – (DRG News) War Creek Road in southern Stanley County is now open to traffic. The roadway was closed recently after it washed out. Stanley County Highway Superintendent Leo Sullivan says a detour has been created around the wash out and the detour will remain in place for the next few months. The east/west gravel road is located about ten miles south of Fort Pierre on Highway 83 and eleven miles west. War Creek Road was also the location of another wash out during flooding in 2011.
Meanwhile, a segment of highway in north central South Dakota in Corson County remains closed after heavy rains caused a portion of the road to erode. The South Dakota Department of Transportation says Highway 65 seven miles north of Isabel remains closed. Heavy rains washed out a portion of the highway and motorists need to find a different route around the closure. The road will stay closed until repairs can be made.
