PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A Pierre man has pleaded not guilty to sending chicken feces to the Dewey County treasurer. 49-year-old Tom Parsons entered the plea Friday in federal court. A trial date has not yet been set. Prosecutors say Parsons has been in a dispute with the county treasurer over vehicle registration. Authorities say he allegedly placed the registration card in chicken feces and mailed it to the official in a plastic bag. Parsons faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. Parsons was released on a personal recognizance bond.
