PIERRE, S.D. – The 108th running of the SDHSAA State Track Meet will take place Friday and Saturday, with preliminary action taking place Friday in Brandon (Class AA), Lennox (Class A) and Sioux Falls (Class B). All classes will then descend upon Howard Wood Field for Saturday’s finals. Each of six defending team champions will return, including two-time defending champions Sioux Falls Washington’s Boys (Class AA), and West Central’s Girls (Class A). Other defending team champions include Viborg/Hurley (Class B Boys), Madison (Class A Boys), Ipswich (Class B Girls) and Rapid City Central (Class AA Girls). Overall, a total of 2,424 individual athletes from 149 South Dakota Schools will be participating in this weekend’s meet. Around 40 Pierre Governor and Lady Governor atheletes qualified for the Class AA meet as head coach Misty Larson will coach the Govs and Lady Govs for the final time. She is moving to Chester along with her husband Heath who will become the superintendent of the Chester school system next year.
