Lady Govs Win First Ever State Golf Championship

 YANKTON, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor golf team won the third state championship this season as they rallied from a 5 stroke deficit to record a 4 stroke victory over Sioux Falls O’Gorman Tuesday to win the Class AA Girls State Golf Tournament. The Lady Govs made up 8 shots on the Knights and was a 3 stroke winner with a two round total of 691. O’Gorman came in with a 694. Pierre shaved one stroke off of it’s Monday score on Tuesday with a 345 score after a 346 on Monday. O’Gorman had a 341 on Monday but ballooned to a 353 on Tuesday to lose their 5 shot lead on the Lady Govs. Yankton was a distant third with a 726. The State title was the first for the Lady Govs in golf in Pierre Riggs High history and the third state title this year after the Governor wrestling and boys basketball teams won state titles this winter.
