IPSWICH, S.D. (AP) – Residents of the northeastern South Dakota town of Ipswich are using a mobile post office while the permanent building is fixed.
KELO-TV reports that the regular post office was closed because of a leaking roof and other damage.
For a while, people in the area had to make a 50-mile round trip to Aberdeen to get their mail. About two weeks ago, the U.S. Postal Service brought a mobile post office on wheels to Ipswich.
The Postal Service says it’s working with its landlord to get the regular post office fixed. It’s also looking at using another building in town on a temporary basis until the regular post office is fixed.
Resident Del Sanborn says the mobile post office is better than driving to Aberdeen.
