VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — A University of South Dakota track and field athlete has been named one of two recipients of a $24,000 postgraduate scholarship. The NCAA has selected Alexa Duling for the Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to one male and one female student-athlete for their academic achievements and potential for future success. The other student awarded the scholarship is Matt Horn, a soccer student-athlete at Winthrop University. Duling is in her fifth year at USD. She majored in biology with a minor in economics and is finishing her MBA. She maintained a 4.0 grade point average and will attend the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix.
