Everyone is currently effected by Cancer. Chances are you know someone that is being challenged with the disease right now. Two Mobridge women are doing their part to try and find a cure. Nancy Haefner and Connie Swanson are planning to participate in a three day event in Minneapolis Minnesota. Haefner and Swanson will walk twenty miles a day for the three day event on August 23rd, 24th and 25th with the intention of raising money and awareness for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Fund raising events are planned for this summer and already interest is arising. Raffle tickets are being sold for prizes such as an IPad Mini, a $100 Gift Basket, and a $100 Payless Foods Certificate. Tickets can be purchased at McClellan Swanson Dental Office in Mobridge and the drawing is going to be held on June first. A pink ribbon poker tournament is being planned for June first and people that want to participate can purchase a poker hand for $10, 2 for $20, 5 for $50 and so on. Each table will have seven hands playing with five cards dealt. The best hands will advance until a winner is determined and winnings will be paid out to first, second and third place. This is an unique tournament because you need not be there to play. Your entry form is playing for you. Another fund raising effort will include food, and who doesn’t love Indian Tacos? A Indian Taco feed will be hosted by the Perks Café at the Edge Event Center on June 6th from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm.
