PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – The South Dakota Legislature is seeking applicants to fill a vacant seat on the State Investment Council.
The council oversees the State Investment Office. It is responsible for investing state money and determining investment policies.
People who are trained in investment and finance but who are not engaged in the sale of marketable or public securities to the state can apply for the appointment.
South Dakota law requires that no more than four of the appointed members of the Investment Council can be from the same political party. This year’s appointment can be of any political party.
The appointment will be made by the Legislature’s Executive Board, which handles management issues for the Legislature. Applications can be obtained from the Legislative Research Council, and the application deadline is May 24.
