SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Several Pierre Governor and Lady Governor athletes had some nice performances Friday during the first day of the 2 day long Howard Wood Dakota Relays. Freshman Courtney Dowling has the third fastest time going into the finals of the 100 meter dash later today. Dowling ran 12.51 in the semi finals. In the girls special 800 meter event, sophomore Rachel Propost ran a time of 2:30.26 and a 8th place finish out of 8 competitors. For the Governors, the best finish of the day came from Austin Lemieux in the Pole Vault. Lemieux cleared 13 feet 3 inches to finish 2nd in the final standings. And Lane Severyn had the 4th fastest time in the preliminary round of the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of :15.54 and was 5 tenths of a second slower in the semi final round but will run in the finals of the race later today. Also this evening, Courtney Dowling will be running for the Lady Govs in the Special 200 meter race. That is scheduled for 7 pm tonight in Sioux Falls.
