STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Scoopers took a major step towards returning to full membership in the Black Hills Conference. The Scoopers are already in the BHC in football starting next fall, but a two-thirds majority of the league’s members voted on Wednesday to bring Sturgis back into the conference in cross country, boys and girls golf and track and field starting with the 2014-15 school year. Sturgis will join in volleyball and boys and girls basketball starting with the 2015-16 school year. Sturgis will not be a BHC member in wrestling. Sturgis will continue to play both Rapid City schools and selected schools in the Eastern South Dakota Conference, Aberdeen Central, Pierre and Huron.
