PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) An Eagle Butte teen was sentenced Tuesday in a Pierre courtroom for Grand Theft. 18-year-old Judson Two Dogs was arrested last September after a rollover accident was reported east of Pierre. Officials said that the pickup he was driving had been stolen. He was later indicted for two counts of Grand Theft. In court Tuesday, he admitted his guilt to stealing the pickup and the second theft charge was dismissed. Two Dogs’ attorney requested that the Grand Theft sentence be served at the same time as another sentence, in which Two Dogs will spend 15 months in custody for a federal case for Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Judge John Brown sentenced Two Dogs to five years for the Grand Theft case, but suspended all but 15 months of the time. The Hughes County sentence will be served concurrently with the judgment in the federal case. Two Dogs is also responsible for court costs, court appointed attorney fees and about $2,700 in restitution.
