MITCHELL, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor golf team finally got back onto the golf course Friday and fired a 335 to finish second behind tournament champion Parkston at the Mitchell Invitational played yesterday at the Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell. Parkston, the Class A pre season favorite fired a 317 and had 4 of the top five individual finishers including tournament. But Class AA defending state champion Hallie Getz of Pierre won individual medalist honors. Getz fired a one under par 71 to claim a four shot victory over Parkston’s Jordan Bormman who fired a 76 tied with Megan Mingo of Yankton for 2nd place. Getz was the only Lady Governor golfer to claim a top 10 place finish. Katie Bartlett had an 83 good for a 11th place finish. Carissa Guthrie tied for 23rd with a 89. Paige Lonbakken had a 92 to finish in a tie for 30th. Joni Willoughby had a 101 to finish in a tie for 58th along with Lady Gov teammate Tatum Richards who also had a 101. A total of 106 golfers played in the tournament from almost every Class AA school in the state along with a pair of Class A teams. The Lady Govs return to Mitchell on Tuesday to play in the Parkston Invitational which was postponed from earlier this month.
