INDIANAPOLIS – Augustana softball jumped up one spot to No. 5 in the second edition of the NCAA Central Region rankings. The Vikings are 28-9 this season with a 21-7 record against in-region opponents. Fort Hayes State is the top rated team in the Region this week. The Central Region is comprised of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), and Great American Conference (GAC). Automatic bids are awarded to the conference tournament winners of the NSIC and MIAA; the GAC does not have an automatic bid this season. The top two teams will host four-team regional tournaments on May 9-12. The winners of those will play each other in a three-game series to decide who will represent the Central Region at the Division II National Championships on May 16-19.
