PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre Educational Foundation has started what it calls the “eWall of Honor” as a way to say thanks to teachers, administrators, coaches and other Pierre Public School staff. The electronic wall of honor is set up on the foundation’s website at www.pefgovs.org and is a location where parents, alumni and others can recognize current or former school district staff members in exchange for any size donation. Contributions are to be used to support educational programs within the district. PEF Executive Director Kim Brakke says the benefits of the new feature are two-fold.

Brakke says most people can likely think of an educator or staff member that has been instrumental in their formative years or in the life of a family member.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and Brakke says the new eWall is a great way to say thanks to one or more Pierre educators.

Those who don’t have internet access can mail their donation to the foundation at PO Box 94 in Pierre and include the teacher’s name and designate that it is for the eWall. Donations can be made in any amount. The more donations received in one teacher’s name, the higher that teacher moves up on the eWall recognition listing.
The Pierre Educational Foundation was established more than 15 years ago, thanks to a gift from the estate of Cora London-who was a successful businesswoman in Pierre for many years. Brakke says the foundation is dedicated to bettering educational opportunities in the Pierre Public School District. PEF gives out mini-grants each year and next week, will offer several thousand dollars in scholarships as part of awards night at Riggs High School.
The foundation is run by a volunteer board of seven, including President Wade Pogany, John Wellhouse, Brad Cruse, Tad Perry, Jami Beck, Dennis James and Deanne Booth.
