PIERRE, S.D. – Several Pierre youth bowlers were able to use a “home-lanes” advantage in taking over the lead in several events of the State Youth Tournament hosted by the Lariat Lanes in Pierre. Individually for the boys, Nathan Schnabel fired a 9-game scratch total of 1356, which became a 2274 total with handicap added in, to set the bar in both All Events categories in Division 2. Schnabel’s Singles total of 789 also leads the Division 2 Boys Singles, while Spencer Anderson tallied a 769 to set the pace in Division 1. And Lane Frahm is tied for the Division 1 Handicap All Events lead at 2231. The tandem of Zachary Ulmen and Nicholas Schmidt also got into the act, as they became the new leaders in Division 1 Doubles with a 1467 total. And Kolton Jackson’s 688 series holds the lead in the Special Scratch 700 Tournament. Several other area bowlers also turned in fine performances over the weekend and are in line for awards, with more Pierre bowlers, as well as some from Chamberlain, still scheduled to compete in the final two weekends of the tournament left to be bowled.
