NSIC Names Weekly Baseball/Softball Award Winners



BURNSVILLE, S.D. – Augustana First Baseman/Catcher Jack Goihl was named Player of the Week and University of Sioux Falls Right Handed Pitcher Derick Fischer was name Pitcher of the Week in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference this week.  Goihl had a big week for the Vikings going 10-for-16 at the plate with a .625 batting average and an .813 slugging percentage, while scoring 10 runs. Of his 10 hits, Goihl cracked three doubles and also drove in 10 runs. Fischer went 2-0, picked up his second save of the season and allowed a single earned run in 14.2 total innings for a microscopic 0.61 earned run average. He also posted a 1.02 WHIP and held opponents to a .200 batting average.

BURNSVILLE, S.D. – Jenelle Truatmann batted .611 with 10 RBI to lead Augustana to a 5-1 record and a surge up the NSIC standings.  Her efforts earned her Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Softball Player of the Week honors.  Trautmann blasted two home runs to tie the Augustana season record which she already shares with Theresa McMahon when the two hit 18 home runs each one season ago.  Trautmann tallied a team-high 11 hits, six walks, and was hit by a pitch to attain an on-base percentage of .720.
