PIERRE, S.D. – Pierre Governor Track and Field and Cross Country standout Steven Gordon will continue his running career at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. Gordon officiallly signed his letter of intent Wednesday afternoon in a brief ceremony held at Riggs High School. Gordon spent 3 years running on the Governor Cross Country varsity squad and is currently a distance runner in his final year of high school for the Governor Track and Field team. Gordon will be running at U of Mary for veteren head coach Mike Thorson who is in his 20th year as head coach of the Marauders. Gordon said quite a few schools contacted him but it came down to Mary and South Dakota Mines and he chose Mary which is a division II school in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference along with South Dakota schools Northern State, Augustana and Sioux Falls. He says he prefers to run cross country and feels that is where he initially will start his collegiate athletic competitive career.
