PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Hughes County Commission officially appointed the county’s Deputy State’s Attorney to take over the position of State’s Attorney at yesterday’s meeting.  Wendy Kloeppner has served as Deputy States Attorney under previous Hughes County State’s Attorneys Kelly Marnette and Max Gors.  Hughes County Manager Kevin Hipple says Kloeppner has been the county’s Deputy State’s Attorney since 2009.  Gors, who was elected to the State’s Attorney’s office in November, resigned recently citing health reasons.  The Hughes County Commission accepted applications for the office and met yesterday to discuss the issue.  Hipple says there were four applicants for the job.  One was Kloeppner, there were two other local applicants and one from outside the area.  Hipple says at the end of Monday’s meeting schedule, commissioners held an executive session; interviewed Kloeppner, reviewed resumes of the other applicants and after discussing how to move forward appointed Kloeppner to the job.  Kloeppner will fill the office until the next general election in November 2014.
