Snow Storm in Dakotas Sets Several Records

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Everyone from students to lawmakers are getting the day off after a record-breaking snow storm in North Dakota over the weekend.
National Weather Service reports show as much as a foot and a half of snow fell in western and central North Dakota and northern South Dakota on Sunday.
The 17.3 inches of snow that fell in Bismarck set several records, including the most snow on any day of any year in the city. Fargo set a city record for the date with 6.3 inches. In South Dakota, Aberdeen set a city record for the date with 8 inches.
Many schools in North Dakota and northern South Dakota are closed or starting late, with roads closed or impassable. The North Dakota Legislature has canceled its Monday session.
