Snow Wipes Out Most Sports Scheduled for Remainder of the Week



PIERRE, S.D. – Saturday’s scheduled doubleheader between the Pierre Governor Spring High School baseball team and Brookings has been cancelled due to the snow storm of this week in South Dakota.  Sunday’s scheduled doubleheader against Sturgis is still on as scheduled as of this morning.  Pierre is 1 and 3 to start the season.

CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. – The Big Dakota Conference Golf tournament scheduled to be played today at the Chamberlain Country Club was cancelled due to the Spring Winter Storm that has hit South Dakota over the course of the last 3 days.  It is not known if it will be rescheduled.  Stanley County was one of the teams that was to golf in that tournament.

PIERRE, S.D. – Pierre Riggs High School Athletic Director Dan Whalen says that today’s scheduled tennis triangular between Pierre, Aberdeen Central and Rapid City Stevens scheduled in Pierre has been cancelled. Inclement weather and the mid April Spring snowstorm did not allow the courts to be ready. Next up for the Governors is a triangular on Monday in Sioux Falls with Pierre playing Sioux Falls Washington and Brandon Valley.  Also officially cancelled due to the weather is the Parkston Invitational Girls Golf tournament scheduled to be played tomorrow in Mitchell.  The next golf tournament for the Lady Govs is the Huron Inviational scheduled for next Thursday in Huron.   And the first of two LiL Govs Track and Field meet for kindergarten thru 6th graders scheduled to be held tomorrow evening at the track at Hollister Field and hosted by the Pierre Governor and Lady Governor track and field teams has been cancelled.  Saturday’s Rapid City Track O Rama that the Govs and Lady Govs are scheduled to attend is still on as of this morning.
