PINE RIDGE, S.D. (AP) – Road and emergency crews on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation are working to reach isolated tribal members in the wake of the spring storm hammering South Dakota.
Tribal official Toni Red Cloud tells the Rapid City Journal that the priority is on people with pressing medical needs, such as dialysis patients. She says the tribe has a list of those people and is working to plow them out.
Red Cloud says main roads on the reservation have been cleared but deep snow has left roads to many rural communities impassable.
