PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota is recognizing emergency police, fire and medical dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week next week.
National Public Safety Telecommunications week is meant to be a time when citizens can thank public safety men and women who respond to emergency calls and dispatch emergency professionals and equipment during times of crisis.
The week runs April 14-20.
State 9-1-1 Coordinator Shawnie Rechtenbaugh in the Department of Public Safety says dispatchers work tirelessly to answer emergency calls, dispatch responders and provide life-saving instructions to South Dakotans.
