Pierre School Board Accepts Several Coaching Resignations

PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre School Board accepted the resignation of several head and assistant coaches at it’s monthley meeting last night in Pierre.  Nicki Abels is stepping down as the head gymnastics coach of the Lady Governors after serving in that capacity for the last decade.  Pierre Governor assistant football and basketball coach Quinton Cermak is also stepping down after serving as an assistant coach for the Governors for the last 4 years.  He has accpeted the K-12 principal postion in the Highmore-Harrold school district.  And jim Keyes is resigning as a middle school wrestling coach and Susan Oligmueller is stepping down as a middle school volleyball coach in the Pierre district.  Pierre Riggs High athletic Director Dan Whalen says there are 8 coaching position openings in the Pierre School District for next year including head coaching positions for gymnastics and track and field at the high school level.
