SD Woman Accused in Child’s Death Appears in Brule County Courtroom

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – A South Dakota woman accused of beating a 4-year-old child to death is facing five charges, including second degree murder.
The state attorney general’s office says 22-year-old Donika Gonzales, of Gann Valley, appeared Friday at a preliminary hearing in Brule County.
Gonzales is also charged with two counts of first degree manslaughter, one count of aggravated assault and one count of child abuse for the Feb. 21 incident.
Arraignment for Gonzales is scheduled Tuesday afternoon.
Gann Valley is about an hour west of Mitchell in central South Dakota.
