RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governors fired a 365 team score to win their first tournament of the season yesterday, the Rapid City Invitational tournament golfed at the Meadowbrook Golf Course. The Lady Govs posted a 16 shot win over runner up Rapid City Stevens. Sturgis, Spearfish and Rapid City Central rounded out the top 5. Defending State Class AA Individual Champion Hallie Getz tied with Rapid City Stevens Kiley Phares for individual honors as both girls fired an 83. Getz lost in a scorecard playoffs and had to settle for second place. Two other Lady Govs finished in the top 5 as Karissa Guthrie had an 86 to take third place and Katie Bartlett had a 90 and a 5th place finish. Lady Gov head coach John Knox called the Lady Govs first time on the course this season “rough” and said all 3 of the girls who finished in the top five could have cut their score by 5 strokes along the way. Pierre returns to action next Friday when they travel to Mitchell for the Parkston Invitatonal.
