INDIANAPOLIS – Augustana women’s basketball ended the season ranked No. 4 in the final USA Today Sports Coaches’ Poll. The Vikings finished the season 28-7 making it to the national semifinals in San Antonio. Ashland (Ohio) took home the national title and finishes the season as unanimous No. 1 team by garnering all 28 first-place votes. Dowling College, the team who knocked Augustana out of the NCAA Tournament, checks in at No. 2 and Western Washington, who also made it to the Final Four, is third. The Vikings are followed by Clayton State at No. 5 after the Vikings beat them in the first round of the Elite Eight. The Vikings’ 28 wins is the most in women’s basketball program history and fourth is the highest the Vikings have ever finished in the WBCA poll.
