FARGO, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota State University football players are strapping on the helmets again, only three months after the Bison won their second straight NCAA Football Championship Subdivision title.
Spring practice was getting under way Monday. Coach Craig Bohl tells The Forum newspaper that finding backups for three starting linebackers will be a focus. All three made it through last season despite battling injuries, and Bohl says he doesn’t think the team “can push the envelope like that again.”
The Bison return 24 seniors, with most of them having played since their freshman seasons. They include quarterback Brock Jensen.
Injuries will keep eight players out of spring drills, but Bohl says the fact that all of them have extensive experience lessens the blow.
