Pierre Man Arrested Following Saturday Assault Report

Man in Handcuffs

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Pierre man was jailed over the weekend after police were told that a domestic assault was occurring in a vehicle outside an apartment complex in northeast Pierre.  Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster says officers were summoned late Saturday afternoon about 5:45 p.m. to the 1900 block of Kennedy Drive in Pierre.  Blemaster says it’s alleged that 27-year-old Nathan Eagle Bear punched a female victim while inside a vehicle that was parked in the street.  Once he left the car, Blemaster says Eagle Bear reportedly threw rocks at the car.  The woman and two children that were inside the vehicle were checked by ambulance personnel that had been called to the scene of the incident.  The woman and the two children, ages two-years-old and two and a half months old, were not seriously injured.  Alcohol was a factor in Saturday’s call.  Eagle Bear was taken to the Hughes County Jail for Aggravated Assault-Domestic and Aggravated Assault-Child Under Three Years of Age.  Also arrested at the scene was Eagle Bear’s brother, Jeremy.  The 22-year-old was taken into custody for an unrelated Hughes County warrant.
