PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre Elks Lodge will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday afternoon. The event has become a family tradition for many-as children from toddler on up gather with their parents at the Governor’s Residence in Pierre and the youngsters fill baskets with treats that have been placed on the residence lawn. Governor Dennis Daugaard and First Lady Linda Daugaard preside over the fun and the governor is tasked with giving the kids the okay to start-promptly at one o’clock. He says he is surprised at the number of people that turn out each Easter afternoon.
Daugaard says though it’s called a “hunt”, the youngsters don’t have to search too hard to find the goodies.
This is the 60th annual egg hunt for the Elks. It is held despite the weather conditions; rain, shine or snow.
