PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – The South Dakota Legislature’s Executive Board has chosen Republican Sen. Ryan Maher of Isabel as its chairman and Republican Rep. Lance Carson of Mitchell as its vice-chairman.
The board handles management issues for the Legislature in the months when the Legislature is not meeting.
The Executive Board met briefly Monday before the House and Senate convened for the final day of this year’s legislative session.
The board next month will choose topics that will be studied by special committees this summer. It also is considering changes in the Legislature’s travel policy that would allow lawmakers to attend more meetings of national organizations.
