PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Hughes/Stanley County Emergency Management will hold a class this week for all local weather spotters. The Thursday evening meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and will last for about two hours. Hughes/Stanley County Emergency Manager Rob Fines says the training class will give weather watchers the knowledge and tools they need to keep an eye on spring and summer storms and will also give the skills they need to stay safe. Those attending the meeting will learn how the local weather spotter program works; hear about radio etiquette, safety information, details on radar and more. Thursday’s weather spotter class will be free and will be held at the Pierre Fire Station One at 215 West Dakota in Pierre. For more information, contact Fines at 773-7454.
Other classes will be held in the area next month. The National Weather Service says Weather Spotter Training will be held in Mobridge at the Fire Hall on April 4 starting at 7:00 p.m. Central Time and in Miller on April 10. For more information on the Miller event, call 853-2408.
