UNDATED – (DRG News) The weekend brings a few different fundraising events to the area. Sunday will be the day for the 5th Annual Pierre “Polar Plunge” to raise money for Special Olympics South Dakota. Organizers hope to top last year’s total of $9,000. Participants can register as a Plunger, or those who choose not to get in the water can sign up as “Too Chicken to Plunge”. The Polar Plunge will be held at Georgia Morse Middle School with registration at one o’clock and the plunge starts at 2:00 p.m. To sign up, visit http://www.firstgiving.com/sosd/2013-pierre-polar-plunge.
Also Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Blunt Community Group is holding its Baked Potato Supper and silent auction fundraiser to help the Blunt Senior Center raise $10,000 to replace the roof. They will offer baked potatoes with toppings, salad, dessert and refreshments. The cost is $7.00 per person and silent auction items will be available throughout the evening. Modern Woodmen of America will match up to $1,000 and additional funding is being made available through the AARP Community Grant.
