PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) No changes have been made for most big game hunting seasons for this year, compared to last year’s schedule. The Game, Fish and Parks Commission has finalized most of the dates. Seasons are decided in the spring of each year to give hunters a chance to plan their fall schedule. The season structure, including license numbers, will be set in the coming months. Some of the season dates that are planned for this year include:
Pheasant October 19-January 5
Youth Pheasant October 5-9
Resident Only Pheasant October 12-14
Grouse/Partridge September 21-January 5
Fall Turkey October 1-January 31
Firearms Antelope September 28-October 13
Deer and antelope tag allocations; waterfowl, sage grouse and the mountain lion season, as well as new state laws will be addressed at upcoming Game, Fish and Parks Commission meetings.
